Drugget [Floor Cover]

Druggets are used for covering an expensive wooden sports hall or gymnasium floor to protect it when being used during exam time or for non sports events. It has also been found to improve acoustics which is beneficial during exam periods.

Flax canvas is the traditional material used for floor covers and, even with the modern fabrics now available, flax remains the most suitable material for the job as it is coarse, hard-wearing and durable plus flame resistant to BS4790:1987 [2009].

Our material has been significantly improved with “wider width” material and “anti slip” backing.

Due to the weight of the cloth, it is frequently necessary to make very large druggets in more than one piece. When this is required, we use velcro to affect easy joining as per the photo illustration. Each section will be supplied with its own storage bag. If a taut and secure drugget is needed, fixings are available. These consist of a pin that passes through the eyelet on the sheet and fixes into a socket sunken into the floor.
